LAYOUT 

Xanadu Villas & Retreat is located on the southeast coast of Zanzibar and is the ideal choice for travelling families, honeymooners or friends looking for an island escape that promises privacy, seclusion and luxury. 

This intimate resort is located in Dongwe on the east coast of Zanzibar, just an hour and a half from Stone Town Airport. It has nine exclusive villas, all with plunge pools. It's located on a pristine white sandy beach, a very private place for clients who want to get away from it all. 

Each villa has a private butler and rates include ALL INCLUSIVE meals as well as airport transfers and laundry. 

There are one and two bedroom villas and the resort can be booked on an exclusive basis for large groups and/or families. The food is exquisite and each meal is customised to suit guests' needs. Flexibility is key to Xanadu’s success, guests can dine anywhere in the resort and at any time. 

Spend your days on the beach in this magical paradise or take a refreshing dip in your private plunge pool. For the adventurous, exceptional diving and snorkelling opportunities are offered, while nearby Stone Town (World Heritage Site) is an ideal place to explore colourful spice markets and take part in cultural tours.

A social gathering in our restaurant, in your private villa, on a romantic beach or on a remote island - the choice is yours to tell the story. Special requests for diets and celebrations will be discussed and accommodated – flexibility, individuality and exclusivity are part of Xanadu’s cuisine. Selected soft and alcoholic drinks, local beers and a range of house wines are included in the price, while cocktails, premium wines and spirits are available at an additional cost.

The restaurant and bar are a central point of the resort. Around our main pool, guests can enjoy a shaded lunch or a romantic candlelit dinner under our huge makuti roof.

An experienced kitchen team delivers first-class daily menus that are freshly prepared, combining the skills and proven culinary practices with the freshest produce available.

A multinational team of international and local chefs combine their skills and international influences with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients for a bespoke culinary experience. Our current team consists of Tanzanian, South African and Kenyan nationals who combine their skills and flavors.

We associate our philosophy with the promise of good, fresh and healthy meals. How better to ensure this than by growing our own produce, using insecticides and utilising local skills and love of the land to produce tomatoes, basil, rocket, pumpkin, mint and parsley to name but a few. The products used by our professional therapists are from Africology or locally sourced.

Located directly on the beach, the spa has a treatment room for couples, changing rooms and facilities, as well as a private terrace where treatments can be enjoyed in the sea breeze.
